Fjordbotn Camping is beautifully situated at the head of the “Stønnesbotn” fjord in Northern Senja. We are located just across the fjord from the Senja National Tourist Route, which runs from Botnhamn to Gryllefjord, with side trips to beautiful Husøy and the fishing village of Mefjordvær. The campground is only 12 km from the ferry quay at Botnhamn. If you are arriving via Finnsnes, we are a 45 km drive from Finnsnes.

With our “central” location, Fjordbotn Camping is a perfect base for exploring all of Senja, and a natural overnight stop if you plan to continue on to Tromsø or Andenes.
Naturally, we offer all the regular facilities of a modern campground, including free Wi-Fi and showers included in the price of your stay. We also have a simple kitchen/lounge that you can use if you need it.

Whether you are camping in a motorhome, caravan or a tent, you and your family are welcome to stay with us at Fjordbotn Camping

Senja, with its wild and beautiful landscape, is often referred to as “Norway in miniature”. You’ll find everything from white, sandy beaches to steep mountains and deep fjords. The view out onto the ocean is perfect for enjoying the midnight sun, or watching the sun dip down below the horizon into the sea. With hundreds of mountain peaks, Senja is a popular destination year round. There are almost limitless opportunities for fishing, both out at sea and in our lakes and rivers. In the summer, ferries run between Andenes and Gryllefjord, and between Botnhamn and Brensholmen. These ferry routes are connected by the Senja National Tourist Route, where the drive is an experience in itself.

Fjordbotn Camping is right on the sea, offering great fishing opportunities for everyone. We have many great fishing spots on shore, or you can hire one of our boats to go fishing on the fjord. We also have life jackets for hire. (Mandatory when using a boat.) Cod, coley (saithe) and haddock are the most common catch, but you can also catch sea trout, especially in the springtime. If you are extra lucky, you may pull in a salmon or halibut.
We also have great fishing lakes nearby, where you can catch mostly trout, but if you are lucky, you can also catch Arctic char. Everyone over the age of 16 must have a fishing licence to go freshwater fishing.

Northern Lights

Starting at the end of September and into the winter, you can experience the stunning Northern Lights. When you stay with us, you will have excellent opportunities to experience the Northern Lights right outside the door. There are few experiences in life that can compare with Senja’s wild and beautiful scenery under the celestial backdrop of the Northern Lights.

More and more winter sports enthusiasts are starting to discover Senja as a new skiing paradise. With hundreds of snowy peaks, you can find powder snow until well into the early summer. Senja has mountain peak trips for all skill levels. Remember to consider the avalanche risk when you take peak trips.
